drapery faq

Drapery should be measured exactly to ensure a prefect fit. Using our custom drapery product designer, enter in the results of your measurements following our instructions to see our exact pricing. Curtains and drapery measurements can be very complicated and drapery fabric is expensive, so please be sure to follow the instructions as best you can. When following our installation instructions, be sure to have all necessary items ready for easy installation. Hardware includes rods, panels, brackets, tiebacks and other materials for install.

To ensure your window treatment is measured perfectly, measure the exact width of the area you want to cover. Measure from bracket to bracket if you are using a pole or rod .You need to be exact as this measurement will give us the width of the custom drapery to ensure the area is fully covered.

Curtains and drapery have no set standard or technique for measuring the length of the fabric. You can have drapery that is long and flows to the floor or short and comes just below the windowsill, which is entirely up to you. Most grommet panels reach just above ground level either 4” below the window, 10” below the window sill for a longer more ‘tieback’ look, or ½” or 1” above the ground level.

After you choose the length of your fabric, make another measurement from the top of the bar, down to the length you chose. The hardware for your drapery, such as a rod, is positioned between 4" to 12" above the window, depending on the room layout and the surrounding elements. Remember every design idea and window treatment is unique and all should be considered before ordering custom drapery.
